Hijri to Gregorian Date Converter
Convert hijri calendar dates to gregorian — and gregorian dates back to hijri — instantly. Today's Islamic date is shown automatically, and everything runs in your browser, nothing uploaded.
Why convert the dates
The Islamic calendar is lunar, and a lunar year runs about eleven days shorter than a solar one. That is why Ramadan, Eid and the Prophet's birthday do not fall on the same gregorian date two years running — they drift earlier each solar year. Planning a family gathering, booking time off, or simply knowing which gregorian Saturday a sacred day will land on means translating between the two calendars.
This converter does that in both directions. Turn a hijri date into the gregorian calendar to find out which day of the week it falls on, or turn a gregorian date into hijri to record an anniversary the Islamic way. When you open the page, today's hijri date is already shown at the top, so you rarely need to type anything at all.
Like the rest of these tools, it runs entirely in your browser. No account, no upload, no tracking — just a quick date translation whenever you need one.
Common uses. Parents use it to find which day of the week the first day of Ramadan falls on before booking time off; new Muslims use it to record when they first fasted; families use it to keep a parent's anniversary on the Islamic calendar rather than letting it slip. A date converter is the small utility that quietly supports a lot of ordinary practice.
How to convert a date
Two directions, the same simple steps.
Choose your direction
Pick Hijri to Gregorian, or Gregorian to Hijri. The active tab switches the fields below it.
Enter the date
Type the year, choose the month from the list, and enter the day. Hijri months run from Muharram to Dhul-Hijjah.
Tap Convert
The matching date appears instantly, with the weekday so you can plan around it.
Read today's date
For everyday use, the line at the top already shows today's hijri date — no input needed.
A little background, and one caveat
Two calendars, two rhythms. The hijri calendar is purely lunar — each month begins with the sighting of the new crescent. The gregorian calendar is solar. Converting between them is an arithmetic match-up, not a guess, but the arithmetic depends on a chosen convention.
Why results can differ by a day. This converter uses the widely used Umm al-Qura-style tabular calendar, the same basis many Islamic date tools rely on. Because real months begin with local moon sighting, communities in different cities may start a month a day apart. For acts of worship, always confirm the exact date with your local masjid or a trusted Islamic authority.
Which hijri year we are in. As of late 2026 we are in hijri year 1448; hijri 1449 begins around mid-2027, and most of gregorian 2027 falls within it. The converter handles any year between 1300 and 1600 hijri. If you would like the whole year at a glance, a full hijri year calendar is available as a one-time purchase in the shop.
A note on planning. Because hijri dates move roughly eleven days earlier each solar year, a Ramadan that arrives in March one year will arrive in February a few years later, and January after that. Converting a few months ahead — rather than the week before — gives you enough time to arrange leave, family gatherings and travel around the expected dates. Treat those planned dates as provisional until the relevant moon sighting is confirmed locally.
Bookmark this page the way you would bookmark a calendar. It is the small tool you open once a month to check where you are in the Islamic year, and once a year to plan around it. Both directions are free and always available in your browser.

Hijri calendar questions, answered
Why is my hijri date different by one day?
Islamic months begin with local moon sighting. Communities in different cities — or even neighbouring masjids — may start a month a day apart. This converter follows the tabular calculation; confirm with your local masjid for worship dates.
Which hijri year are we in?
As of late 2026 we are in hijri year 1448; hijri 1449 begins around mid-2027. The converter handles any year between 1300 and 1600 hijri.
Is converting a hijri date the same as converting Ramadan dates?
Yes — Ramadan is simply the 9th month of the hijri calendar. Choose Ramadan from the month list and you can find the gregorian dates for any Ramadan.
Is this date converter free?
Completely free, no sign-up, no tracking. The full converter — both directions — is available to everyone in your browser.
